Ladder Rescue |
The Rescue Starts as for the T Rescue The rescuer grasps the bow of the upturned kayak and lifts quickly in order to prevent any further water from entering through the cockpit opening. The upturned boat is then pulled across until its cockpit is resting on the foredeck of the rescue craft. Beware - this rescue is a spray-skirt shredder. (See Photos) If sufficient buoyancy exists in the stern of the capsized boat you do not even have to rock the boat across the cockpit to empty (ie sea kayaks) |
|
Rather than placing the emptied boat parallel to the rescuers boat, it is merely turned the right way up and kept in a `T` shape and used as an out-rigger. The casualty can either pull themselves up over the stern to enter the cockpit or climb out of the water onto the rescuers bow and then into the cockpit. This rescue provides a very stable platform for the re-entry | |
