Maps and Details
Meet in the public car park by Saracen's Head Pub, Plex Lane, Haskayne (West of Ormskirk) at 9.30am. Paddle North to Rufford Junction, Burscough through some beautiful countryside. Finish at Ship Inn Burscough, on Wheat Lane.
HAZARDS
The Leeds Liverpool canal is used by many Pleasure boats. Please paddle on the right hand side of the canal, and watch out behind. There are two very low swing bridges. The first bridge at the Farmers Arms must be exited on the left hand side and carefully cross this quiet road. Exiting on the right puts you at a blind spot so drivers cannot see you. The second bridge can be squeezed under if you are small. Otherwise exit and carefully cross the road. There are about four swans near Burscough. Do not get too close to them. Do not go near the Locks at Rufford Junction.

Food, drink can be purchased at any of the canalside Pubs. There are also picnic areas by the Ship Inn Burscough. You may wish to bring your own food and drink.
SUPERVISION
Paddlers under age of 16 may be supervised by their parents. Alternatively they may paddle with adults, having sought their approval and accepting to respect any instructions given. Enthusiastic paddlers may wish to paddle back to their cars.

Please let Neil Garrison neil.garrison@btinternet.com know if you are planning on paddling.
