2012 Four Nominations for Paddler of the year
(club member who has made the most progress or achievement in paddlesport)
Andy Wrigg  Katherine Wilson Paul Flaherty Roy McHale
Andy has improved hugely over the last 2 years.  He has organised several 4 Star River Leaders and White Water Safety Courses.  He has coordinated many Whitewater trips at all standards and is always very enthusiastic and encouraging towards other paddlers around him. Katherine has only recently taken up the sport but has already been to Scotland and the Alps and seems to get through rapids where more experienced paddlers come unstuck.    Paul has only been paddling for a year and already paddles at a very high standard. He rarely swims and seems to surf the biggest waves with a style well above his experience. Roy has been a very active member of the club over the past year, both at the mid-week evening sessions and most weekends. He's always enthusiastic and very helpful, and shortly after the club Alps trip went on a trip to Siberia involving long walk-ins and challenging rapids.
2012 Three Nominations for Young Paddler of the year
(club member who has made the most progress or achievement in paddlesport)
Ollie Murphy Jack Gille Bradley Tattum
Ollie is one of our youngest paddlers on a Tuesday night but makes good use of his junior paddle and Dagger Dynamo Kayak.  He regularly paddles to Albert Dock and back with the others. Jack has improved greatlly over this year and has attended several club weekends and trips.  He has been a regular at junior club on Tuesday evenings and won silver in our mini-olympics in the Junior Sprint..  He always has a happy disposition while paddling and always has a smile on his face. Bradley as enjoyed every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday club session at the docks throughout this season as well as joining us for the surfing sessions at Crosby. Plus he now can remember to bring his shoes all by himself!
2012 Four Nominations for Volunteer of the year
(Club member who has given their services to help the club)
Karl Tatum Chris Benson Steve Hitchen Pete Thomas
Karl has almost single-handedly kept the Thursday evening paddles going over the winter months.  He regularly organises surfing sessions at Crosby and the now almost monthly trips around Hilbre Island which are enjoyed by everyone. Most of all he is always encouraging new members and looking after them when they get on the water. Chris has painted the frames around the polo goals and has encouraged many members into polo kayaks on a Monday and Thursday.  Steve arranged for the new paddle storage box to be constructed by his firm and delivered it himself overseeing its fitting to our trailer.  This has made a massive difference to storage in the shed. Pete has tirelessly worked on promoting the club over the last few years with radio interviews, developing banners, brochures and posters for the club.  He has also given several evening talks at the Marina.
2012 Eight Nominations for Swimmer of the year
(Club member who has given their services to help the club)
Karl Tattum Andy Wrigg: Keith Scott Chris Murphy
I believe Karl should be awarded 'Swimmer of the year' for rolling in six inches of water, and although we were all laughing so hard we did managed to get one photo.  He had to bail out of his kayak. 2 swims about 50m apart at JJ`s on the Dee.  The first resulted in the breaking of his new Werner Sidekick paddle, the second resulted in his newish replacement Mitchell Blades being stuck underwater in the hole he had to be live bated to retrieve them. Keith Scott on the Graveyard, Tryweryn.  This was a swim which had been long coming.  Both boat and paddle needed to be rescued by others around him. In 2011 Chris Murphy swam on the "S Bends" on the Upper Guisaine the swim was captured on camera and features briefly in the Alps DVD the footage of the swim is actually a lot longer. In 2012 he swam exactly in the same place this defo needs a nomination for consistency.

Paul Flaherty Steve Hitchen Justin Cooper Paul Harwood
Paul became stuck in the stopper on lower graveyard and pulled his deck like a wimp without even trying to roll.  This was much to the amusement of Ben Mason. Steve for his infamous rant on the Lune. He was out of the boat so often that it was almost dark when we had to abandon him at the side of the road. He later said that he was worried  about drowning because his brand new river shoes kept getting caught in the boat!! He kept the shoes and sold the boat! Justin for his latest swim at Bala Mill Falls on the Tryweryn during the Pyranha Fest weekend. After successfully making the right hand eddie above the double drop, Justin looked across to Andy Wrigg who was in the left hand eddie and said "After you Sir".  Andy broke out and ran the drops followed by Justin who promptly capsized. Anyone who has paddled with Paul knows he always brings his little Canoe which he uses more as a hat than a boat when in the water.  If you're unsure then please watch the video………
