Each year the club asks for nominations for our four Club Awards.

Members can NOW vote for each category by sending an email to website@liverpoolcanoeclub.co.uk with their vote for each Category.

Awards are then presented at the club’s AGM on Wednesday 11th October 2017

2017 Nominations for Paddler of the Year (club member who has either made the most progress or achievement in paddlesport)
Hannah Bellamy	Dominic Fahey
Since joining the club in 2016 Hannah has been on almost every trip going: FSRT, SESA and white-water and sea kayaking courses. She has also tried Canoe Polo, Murder ball, Hilbre Race, Scotland White Water, Alpine white water, Pembroke and Anglesey weekends, guide leader’s sessions and just about every other paddling opportunity going. She has recently started purchasing her own fleet of boats, I think Hannah has caught the boating bug!	Since Dom`s first visit to the Alps, he has come on leaps and bounds. This year he aced the “Rab Wave”, even surfing it one occasion. Always happy to help and one of the nicest guys you will meet. He had a major role in the development of the compound at the docks, helps at the pool and is a regular at many club events and sessions. An inspiration to all.  Keep up the good work Dom!!

2017 Nominations for Young Paddler of the Year (Under 18 club member who has made either the most progress or achievement in paddlesport)
John Smullen	Harvey Harwood
John has immersed himself in the club this year, a keen member of the U18 canoe polo team paddling at Liverpool and Hull. He loves the Anglesey weekends; paddling his Machno at 4 mile and kept a cool head when his paddle snapped in some very large surf in the rocky Porth Dafarch bay. He calmly surfed away from the rocks using one blade. John is a willing hand at all club sessions, nothing is ever too much trouble.	Harvey Harwood has made huge leaps and bounds since May this year when he finally got his roll nailed. He is fearless, taking on huge waves in any direction. He plays Murderball whenever he can and has taken the spirit of the game. He gets as good as he gives.

2017 Nominations for Volunteer of the Year (Club member who has given their services to help the club)
Craig Ellingham	Josh Cook	Dominic Fahey	Karl Tattum
Craig helps to run Sunday morning sessions at the docks and helped with the building of the compound there. More recently he has instigated several river paddles. Nothing is ever too much trouble.	Josh is an excellent coach and has run several introductory and improvers courses this year. He has also developed and coached the junior canoe polo team and runs the Wednesday evening polo sessions.	Dominic is an inspiration for all. He helps run the Monday pool sessions, maintains all the boats stored there and contributed greatly to the construction of the compound at the docks. Always a willing hand and involved in everything to do with Liverpool Canoe Club.	Karl is an active surf paddler and puts almost weekly surf sessions on at Crosby Beach. He hosts Thursday night Murderball and always encourages people to give it a go.

2017 Nominations for Swimmer of the Year
(Club member who has had the best "out-of-the-boat experience")

Helen Siertsema

Helen has been a stalwart of the club for many years and is a very experienced Alpine paddler. This year she had several “out of boat experiences” but must hold the record for one of the longest swims seen on the Durance; from the Embrun wave to the get out, about 1km downstream. Well it was warm and we had just paddled 39km that day.
