Beginning at Newby Bridge weir GR SD369863 the Leven drains
Windermere into Morecambe Bay and The Irish Sea. This river is
subject to very limited access.
Below the permitted run are dangerous weirs, sharp rocks and
stoppers.
River journey – about 1.5km/1mile.
Water Levels – Lake fed
Access – Subject to a BCU Access Agreement, with a booking
scheme
Car Parking – as directed on open days.
Hazards – Weirs, ‘The Brickchute’ (ramp), Mill
Force (a 2m drop), left of a rocky island has a large stopper,
more stoppers, rapids and rocks including another 2m drop.
