Island - Anglesey From Red Wharf Bay |
Puffin
Island - Via the cliffs along from Red Wharf Bay. The island
is less than 500 metres off-shore but with a large colony of
very friendly seals in the summer. A few will usually 'race'
your boat as you paddle along the island and they are VERY inquisitive
as a whole. Directions: A55 Coast Rd, over the A55 bridge over the Menai Straights, first right (A4080) then A545 to Beaumaris. Then look for signs to Llanddona then down the steep hill to the beach car park on the right hand side of Red Wharf Bay. You may need to print a map as the lanes are small. Meet at 10.00 am Start point Right Hand End of Red Wharf Bay 20Km paddle so sea kayak suggested unless very fit. (Landings will be difficult as cliffs for most of the way - please ensure you are happy in a kayak for this length of time before a rest (3hrs) Click for maps of Start point....... |
