2016 Nominations for Paddler of the Year

(club member who has either made the most progress or achievement in paddlesport)

Carole Thomas

Chris Wood

Leanne Murray

After joining LCC very soon after it formed, Carole has progressed through to holding 3* Sea and also holds 2* and L1 coaching qualifications. She has also completed her 4* sea training.

This year, as with the past 3 years at the Sea Kayak Intro sessions held at the marina, Carole has helped coach novice paddlers to improve their sea kayaking skills but I think she is more deserving of Paddler of the Year because of the sheer amount and variety of paddling she has done throughout 2016.

An early summer with many hours spent paddling an open boat was followed by 2 weeks paddling her sea kayak in demanding sea conditions in the spectacular Outer Hebrides. This was followed soon afterwards by 2 weeks paddling white water in the French Alps where, styling the Rab Wave and other features, she demonstrated just how much she had improved since last year. Almost immediately after returning from the Alps, Carole was part of a very successful team of LCC sea paddlers who explored more of Prince William Sound in Alaska.

With her love and enthusiasm for many aspects of paddle sports, Carole has been an inspiration to me and lots of other people and I would like everyone to vote for her as Paddler of the Year

Started on the intro course and is now one of our level 1 coaches. Went to the Alps.
