We Prince William Sound Expedition – Alaska

14 days paddling out from Whittier into   Prince William Sound and we soon found out why the area is a temperate rainforest..  It rained on 12 of the 14 days, once continually for 56 hours solid.  Despite the conditions the group made good use of the tarps and saw far more wildlife than on previous trips.

On day 11 and 12 we were storm bound and camped right next to 8+ bears who fished for salmon at the hatchery on Esther Island. Look for the detailed accounts when we return.

We also reached our main objective, Meares Glacier at the head of Unakwik Inlet, one of the few remaining advancing glaciers.

A wet but very enjoyable trip with a great bunch of LCC members
