Sea Kayak paddle – Porth Dafarch – Both Wen and return. Sunday 27th by Neil Mack

May be an image of 6 people and body of water

A stunning day with a relaxed, mostly behaved group 🙂 ..

We left Porth Dafarch and headed direct to Borth Wen across Trearddur Bay on a polished glass sea, hardly a zephyr of a breeze to be felt.

Lunch at BW and the out to the beacon to find the swell, Flow and eddy lines to play in….but the high-pressure system and neap tides put paid to this and the anticipated conditions seemed non-existent; they were gentle to say the least.

Who cares though, it was a day to welcome Spring and shake of the winter’s excess…we rock hopped around the Beacon and found a one-eyed Bull Grey Seal with his soon to be harem. Other wildlife included Blue Jellyfish, shag, distant rafts of Razorbills and Gillimots plus the surprise of the day a gaggle of pale bellied Brent Geese at Borth Wen.

Journey back to Porth Dafarch involved lots of rock hopping and laughs. Just when we were about to become complacent, the wind freshened to a F3 and we had wind over tide with a mahoosive sea state of at least 0.2m 😁

PS… now dealing with mild sunburn…. 😎

Thanks to Martin A, Nikki, Ian, Kevin, Martin P, Keith and Roger Colman for making this a memorable day’s paddle 👍
