The challenging Windermere One Way Swim took place on Saturday 13th August in perfect conditions. 87 swimmers took part in this iconic 10.5 mile event starting at Fell Foot at 6.45 am and passing Storrs Hall, Belle Island, Low Wood Bay and eventually finishing at Brathay Hall on the north shore.

Six of the water safety came from Liverpool Canoe Club and five of them made the Achille Ratti Climbing Club of Bishop’s Scale, in the beautiful Langdale Valley, their base for the weekend.

Swimmers came from all over the country and as far afield as Cork and Wicklow in Ireland.

All swimmers individual support kayakers or paddle-boarders and a tow float which improved their visibility. The kayakers wore a digital tracker. Temperatures rose from a balmy 22 Celsius at the start and reached 31 Celsius by the time the last swimmers reached the finish to rapturous applause from friends, families and spectators. The water temperature was 21 Celsius and so wetsuits were optional although most swimmers preferred wetsuits.

Congratulations to all the competitors for providing such an inspiring sporting occasion and T2 Events for managing and staging this event. Jim
