Farndon to Chester by John Cooke

  • by

Eight paddlers met at the old bridge in Farndon for the paddle down to Chester, 1 sea kayak, 1 sit on top, 2 open boats and 4 crossover boats. Estimated river time 4 hours.

After a smooth shuttle we were on the water and heading downstream. The river is grade 1 all the way down but provides some lovely views and time to just enjoy being out and surrounded by nature.

After a couple of hours we stopped for lunch, the sea kayak doubled up as a table, these touring trips are very civilised, cakes and other treats being plentiful.

A rather long seal launch – Look after the environment and help to stop erosion

Back on the water and the you can tell your getting near to Chester as the rowing boats start to appear coming upstream and the river trip boats create a small rise and fall on the otherwise glass like water.

This was my first paddle since last November and a lovely day out with good company and nice scenery, definitely up for some more days like this, a great way to just de-stress and enjoy the river

Thanks for a great day out. 👍
