“Trearddur Bay to Porth Dafarch, beyond and return” Sat 20th May 23.

“Following the morning camp meeting and based on the number of sea kayakers, it was decided that we would split into three groups. These would be determined once we had completed the now usual ‘shuttle, shuffle and faff’ to get from camp to beach.

Once at the beach, equipment set up and cars parked, we split into three groups. Our group consisted of Paul, John, Trevor, Jill, Anthony, led by Neil Mack and with the welcome addition of Stuart Conway, who had travelled up from home for the day.

Once on the water, we headed North, hugging the coast, rock hopping as we made our way to Porth Dafarch. Weather and sea conditions we perfect making it a really pleasant journey. On arrival at the mouth of P.D. bay we decided to head further along the coast and ‘put our noses out at Penrhyn Mawr’. This onward journey was a pleasant as the first leg and the rock hopping continued.

On arrival at Penrhyn Mawr there was very little tidal movement, due to the time that we had arrived. We had a short paddle around and then headed back to P.D. for a well earned lunch and stretch of legs. The beach, as expected was full of the usual holiday makers, along with our ‘sister group’ who were already well into their lunch.

It was then we were treated to one of our group stripping off to swimwear, in a vague effort to emulate Daniel Craig in that well known Bond film beach scene.

Following our leisurely lunch, we decided to drag ourselves away from the beach and started our paddle back to Trearddur Bay. This consisted of more rock hopping and exploring along the way.

On return to our start point, was the repeat of shuffling and packing of boats, before well earned refreshments.
