2025 04 20 Anglesey Sea Kayak Day 3
Easter Sunday on the sea by Frankie A
Saturday evening, The Paddlers Return, picture the scene. Maps and tidal information on the table, forecasts checked. Trip planning practice for an Easter Sunday paddle. With a wind forecast of F1-2 initially southerly changing direction to northly, and HW Liverpool at 16.31, a trip was planned under the supervision of Ian Bell. After which, Paddlers Burgers were consumed. Roll on Sunday morning and the 9 am meeting of the paddlers for the day (Frankie A, Ian B, Keith C, Stuart C, Martin P, Kevin C, Andy and Christine B, Adya, and Andy Benyon). Paddling options were presented: the beautifully planned North Coast trip or Trearddur Bay to Borthwen via Rhoscolyn Beacon. Only 2 people voted for the North Coast, so off to Trearddur Bay to find free on-street parking (or not) we went.

Launching, with a safety briefing on the water, we rock hopped and gully traversed our way around the coast, checking out which features worked for playing and which would be options on the return trip. There was some swell, and timed right, adding some excitement to the rock-hopping journey. The ‘secret’ beach was inaccessible, so we carried on to the White Arch and then around Rhoscolyn Head and over to the beacon. There was a little reminiscing about last Easter’s paddle around Rhoscolyn Head, which had been somewhat more exciting than some of us had wished for! Not this time, beautiful conditions, sunshine, light winds and just enough sea state for Type 1 fun. A few seals were spotted, and many jet skis were buzzing around.
