Rannoch Moor to Perth by Chris Bolton Part 5

We knew the picnic site at the power station was closed, so I walked down to check it out before taking the boats down the hill. While the car park was locked, a gap had been left deliberately and was big enough for canoes. After some lunch, we launched onto Loch Faskally, which still had significant flow from the power station outflow.

This took us down to the dam at Pitlochry dam. This time Andy did the exploring, finding that the footpaths had steps, so we trolleyed up the hill a bit, down to the hospital car park and onto the road, which led to a good launch spot under the footbridge.

Although the river looks low, the dam was releasing (it’s the last one in the chain) and we had a very pleasant paddle down to just above the Tay confluence, where we camped on the shingle.
