Leisurely Docks Paddle 22.12.25
Liverpool Canoe Club – Paddle Report: Liverpool Docks Adventure
Our latest club outing took us on a calm and scenic paddle through Liverpool’s historic docks, and what a day it turned out to be! The water was glassy, the winter air crisp, and the city skyline shimmered in the low afternoon light.
We set off in a cheerful group, weaving our way past the familiar landmarks — the Albert Dock’s red-brick warehouses, the elegant masts of moored boats, and the occasional curious passer-by waving from the quayside. The docks were peaceful, with only the gentle splash of paddles breaking the stillness.

The highlight of the trip came quite unexpectedly — as we rounded a quiet corner near Wapping Dock, we spotted something extraordinary: a duck with the most striking pink and blue plumage! It turned out to be the new amphibious duck vehicle, giving tourists a land and water-based tour around the historic Albert Dock. It was a quirky and cheerful sight that had us all laughing.
We finished the loop with smiles all around, warmed by both the exercise and the shared joy of the day’s surprise encounter. It was a reminder that even in the heart of the city, nature has a way of surprising us.
