Docks Leader Training
Keith Steer
Docks Leader Training (Home waters)
We will look at:
- How the club uses the compound and equipment (procedures).
- Towing different boats (you will be required to tow one or more boats to an area in the docks).
- Rescue of the various craft used in a general, mixed fleet paddle.
- Group control and leadership.
- Discussion of possible emergencies and scenarios.
You will be required to act both as a participant and rescuer, although we will take account of the prevailing conditions and experience of the candidate. Please bring any tow lines, slings or other rescue gear that you may have. (We will not be formally using throw lines on this home waters course)
Trainees and current leaders (our volunteers) will have personal invites; however, the course is open to all prospective leaders. Please check the current list of Leaders and Coaches… https://liverpoolcanoeclub.co.uk/lcc-coach-and-leader-lists/
If you are interested in volunteering for the club, contact website@liverpoolcanoeclub.co.uk with a brief outline of your paddling experience and how you want to help out – eg help with dock sessions, help with the admin of the club, lead groups on the sea or rivers.
The session will be conducted in groups and will include training on rescue and towing, safety, leadership, and group control.
