On Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August, we will be running workshops on different rescue techniques and strategies on the sea using kayaks on Anglesey.
You need to attend both days.  We are camping locally!

The primary aim for the two days is to provide the skills necessary as a Sea Paddler to be an effective part of a team when either being rescued or assisting in a rescue. These skills are a must for those who wish to be more adventurous on trips and, for example, wish to play in more difficult rock-hopping scenarios. We will look at techniques to assist a rescuer when being rescued, for example, toggle tows and swimming out; assisting the rescuer in a rescue, including recovery of a swimmer and towing; performing self-rescues and performing rescues of others.

Day 1 (9th) will be in calmer conditions to develop the techniques before then on day 2 (10th) we will go and practise them in a more realistic environment. You must attend Day 1 if you wish to attend Day 2.

This session is for closed-cockpit, seaworthy sea kayaks only (so with at least two bulkheads and using spray decks).

Participants must have at least two sea trips in the required craft in conditions that are at least force 3 wind and sea state 2/3. You should also have experience in rescue techniques appropriate for the docks. If you are not sure if you qualify for this but are interested, please email me to discuss.

ALL participants will be expected to partake in rescue activities and therefore will be required to play victim and swim so as to be rescued. If you feel you are an exception to this, then please contact me to discuss.
