White Water Peer Paddle Dee or Tryweryn

Hi all

White Water Peer Paddle

Looking to kayak Saturday – Saturday 9th August see what interest there is and how many leaders respond then decide below.

“A non-club Trip (Peer trip) is one NOT organised by the club. Individuals will need to ensure they are competent and happy to paddle as a group. All decisions to paddle will be the FULL responsibility of those paddling. You will not be covered by any liability cover from the club nor the National Governing Body (BC or PUK).”

Choice 1 – Dee Horsehoe down to TNR – up canal and back in loop – walk around serpents except for those who wish to do at own choice.

Choice 2 – Lower Tryweryn – if there are enough group leaders to merit this trip – Grade – 3/4 – Bala Mill Portage Release confirmed  – 9 Cumecs

The trip will be predominantly Grade 2+ with a grade 3 or 4 depending on location. Note this is a peer paddle and grades 3 / 4 are not covered in club trips, so experienced paddlers will choose their own features considering weather and experience.

Experience

This is classed as a LCC Peer Lead Group – to access this trip people must be familiar with White Water and have paddled the Dee for example, grade 2 from Horseshoe to JJS – this is a step up but not considerably – there are trees rock boulders and hazards associated with grade 2+.  Paddlers must have paddled moving water previously and be self-sufficient and know their capsize drills.
