Pembroke Day 2, Sunday 7th May Surfing at Freshwater West
The surf had cleaned-up a lot since the previous day and was lining up well. We parked in the car park at the beach and put on in front of the lifeguard’s hut. There was a rip tide sweeping out on the left-hand end of the beach and we used this to navigate out way out through the surf.
The waves were very large, and we picked out way through some of the smaller sets only to be hurled towards the beach at a great rate of knots.
After a few backloops and long diagonal runs our confidence increased and we began to take more and more larger waves. The surfers all kept well clear and were mostly in the soup near the shore. After a couple of hours we both head in to the beach for a well earned rest.
