As the stewardship meetings are generally held quarterly, I thought it might be of interest to keep members up to date with the workings of the group.

First off, the stewardship group are all volunteers and gives their time for the benefit of the club.
The meetings generally start with an update of the previous meeting’s action points. The topics discussed and confirmed were:
A safer and secure login procedure for the website, which now has 2-step authentication, was the main topic, and this is now in place.
A move to the message board to replace Google Groups, restrictions are in place to encourage the use of the message board.
Moving on to the night’s new agenda, we covered,
Event planning,
The club’s Paddlefest event is on 26th April, so plans to put that together to make it another great day down at our home base. More news to follow as it is developed.
Not yet confirmed! Swim safety, the guys who run the swim safety events, want to run a training session at our home base. Kevin is in talks with them, so hopefully this will be confirmed soon. Keep your eye on the calendar and message boards.
Maintenance,
Once the weather improves, we are hoping to revamp the compound and look at installing some more pontoons for better access to the water. This is probably a summer job, so no dates are confirmed as yet. Members’ help for both projects would be needed.
Plans to update the coaches and leaders’ log to keep in line with Paddle UK’s Standards for deployment, which have to be met this year. More information will be put out as we start the update.
It was a busy night with a lot of discussion, and hopefully this has been of some interest. Thank you to all the volunteers who put on club trips, organise events, and just generally help the club.
Please sign up to the message board, as well as your chosen boards make sure you sign in to the
Help, General Questions and Announcements board, as this is where a lot of information will be posted.

Installing some more pontoons for better access to the water, seems like a good idea. Hopefully, this will stop Sea Kayak seal launches and prevent the damage this can cause to the club kayaks. And I can keep my feet dry – seems a win, win to me.
