White Water Trip / Peer Paddle on the River Tryweryn by Stuart Toulson

Today’s White Water Trip / Peer paddle saw a last-minute change of venue, this was to take advantage of a late-announced release of the River Tryweryn.

The dam release upper section of the river is classed as grade 3- 4.

We were anticipating a busy day if last week’s Dee trip was anything to go by, but we were pleasantly surprised.

Arriving at the centre, we noticed many new additions, such as benches, signage, railings, and paths.

The release was the usual 9 cumecs, so we had plenty to play with.

With no rafts booked all day and the paddlers well spread out, we enjoyed plenty of space around the features.

After several fun laps and stopping to chat with people we knew. We decided to venture into the cafe for coffee and cake.

Non-club Trip (Peer trip) Age Group: 18 – 85
“A non-club Trip (Peer trip) is one NOT organised by the club. Individuals will need to ensure they are competent and happy to paddle as a group. All decisions to paddle will be the FULL responsibility of those paddling. You will not be covered by any liability cover from the club nor the National Governing Body (BC or PUK).”
