Windermere (Fell Foot) Sunday 21st July by Allan B
6 of us had a great day paddling on Lake Windermere, a great 14.6 mile trip from Fell Foot (national trust) to Bowness and return. We met at 0930, on the water at 1000 and were off the water at 1630. The weather was a typical overcast summer day, though there were not too many other watersport users on the lake, only the normal holidaymaker ferries plying their trade.
We had a leisurely paddle to Bowness, stopping for lunch at Ferry Nab and Alan had supplied a ‘birthday’ Pork Pie for John (See Pictures), I’ve never seen a pork pie with birthday candles!
After lunch, we paddled across to and around Belle Island to make our way back down the west coastline to Fell Foot. Alan found some balloons for John’s celebration after lunch as seen in the photos, by David.
Alan also did the gentlemanly thing of towing 2 females in their canoe approximately 500 yards back to where they had launched as the breeze was just sending them around in circles, they’d never been in a canoe before, and it showed!
The rest of the trip back to our launch went without a hitch.
Thank you to everyone for making it an enjoyable day on the water
