Despite a predicted windy day, the Festive paddlers faced gentle breezes and odd gusts, which were perfect for a Sunday afternoon out on the docks. John tried his best to fill us up with mince pies and cakes, but we still left room for our Christmas meal at The Anchor.
Balloons and tinsel turned the event room into a festive scene as we seated ourselves around 3 tables, and with no table plan in place, we sat amongst friends old and new (that’s not age-related!). Soups, pate and prawn dishes were duly served, and the room fell silent! That in itself was impressive! Wine and beer flowed, candles burned, Yorkshire puddings were eaten and what Yorkshire puddings they were! By the end of the meal, we all announced how lovely the food had been and of course the company. Diane, Chef, and the team surpassed expectations; what a great way to start the season.
How are we going to top that next time?
Happy Christmas, everyone! Sue& Colin L.
