2026 Menorca – Day 3 Beach near Punta d en Valent to Es Bot 07 04 2026

Day 3 – Beach near Punta d en Valent to Es Bot by Christine

A short day paddling today, 17.5KM due to the geology of Menorca and availability of good / any camping spots. There was one more camping spot identified on the map before the long stretch of cliffs, but it was in the heart of housing, so we opted for the sandy beach and a slightly shorter day.

The sun rose after 8:00 am and the heat of the day soon came into the air as we packed our boats for the day’s adventure.

Due to it being a short day, it meant we could take our time to explore the coast – with rock hopping, cave exploration – small and large, whilst enjoying the calm sea and changing landscape – the cliffs of Cap Cros, the column of Punta de Cala Pregonda, the metamorphic rock of Roca de sa Sal and the beautiful beach of Cala Pregonda westside with the secluded houses dotted along the coastline.

We stopped at Cala en Calderer for elevenses and a little land exploration, before heading to Es Bot for our night’s accommodation.

Arrival at Es Bot was about 2:00 pm, so a late lunch in the Robinson Crusoe cave by the beach.  A great shelter out of the sun and later from the sea breeze.  A place for lunch and later dinner, and for one, the security for a night’s stay, while the rest of us camped on the beach near our tents for the early start in the morning.

The Robinson Crusoe cave could be accessed from a short walk in the sea or around the top and through the trees. Four of us decided to retreat from the sun and have an easy afternoon in readiness for our long day to follow.  However, Rachael and Ali had other ideas, a walk along the coast path to Cala Morrell for their evening meal.  They had more adventure than planned as they had to scramble around a landslide on the path, and when they arrived at Cala Morrell, the restaurant wasn’t open, so a taxi into Ciutadella for Ali’s steak and Rachael’s vegetarian experience, followed by a taxi drive back to Es Bot in time for camp set up.
