The nautical nine set off around 10 am from the pretty fishing village of Moelfre to catch the last of the Ebb running south.  The weather forecast had improved since yesterday, and the steady SW offshore breeze provided the main feature of the day, the sea state being quite calm and flat.

Ice cream forecast: 399, mainly south 1 or 2, moderate to good, occasional 99, becoming busy later.

Heading out from the pebbly beach, the party followed the coast southwards past Dinas Beach, toward Benllech Beach, where a strong Ice-cream current saw the party initially head towards the beach before correcting and continuing towards the headland at Trwyn Dwlban.  The sea conditions remained calm with only the smallest of waves and a slight bit of weathercocking to contend with, caused by the steady breeze coming from 2 O’clock direction.

Turning to head west into Red Wharf Bay, the party pressed on, slowed only slightly by the headwind, to arrive at the small harbour around the Ship Inn on the north side of the bay.

Ice cream forecast: 350, north 2 or 3, poor, becoming vanilla later.

After a pleasant lunch on a picnic bench, with a welcome (if half-hearted) visit from the sun, the nautical nine sailed out of the bay (paddling was optional due to the wind) before rounding the headland and making the return journey pleasantly, on the ebbing tide current and with a wind from 7 O’clock.

Arriving back at Moelfre soon after 2 pm and before the rain arrived, the ice cream forecast was much improved:

375, 1, cyclonic, excellent, Biscoff becoming Amarena later.  Waffle likely. Sprinkles optional.
