Lancaster Canal Sunday 11th May by Olwen

What a lovely, gentle paddle along the scenic Lancaster Canal, from Lancaster to Galgate and back. Thank you to Carl for organising and leading it. The sun shone, the birds sang beautifully, and the midges, although numerous, were no bother to us.

Luckily, the lack of rainfall didn’t impact our passage as we cruised along with the surrounding countryside looking lush.  Cows knee deep in the water (do cows have knees?!) were not phased by our passing by, and an overzealous Spaniel puppy decided to jump onto my spray deck to say hello!  What a pleasure not to have to do any portages, and next time I’ll count the bridges….
