Leeds Liverpool Canal, Rufford Branch – Coordinator Allan Blanchard
Leisure paddle trip on the Rufford Branch of the Leeds Liverpool Canal from Tarleton Lock to Rufford Lock 14/5/23
A big thank you to everyone who turned up early on a Sunday morning. Only one no-show!
Thank you, Alan, for supporting me.
The 4 of us met up at Tarleton Wharf by the swing bridge, thankfully opened for us by a local barge ‘captain’. We set off following said barge to the next swing bridge, where they opened it for us to paddle through. We continued the Paddle to Rufford Lock where we managed to egress for a snack prior to getting back on the water to head back.
On the way back a dog walker pointed out some terrapins sunbathing on a branch in the water and we were then all discussing how did they finish up in the canal so far from any built-up area!.
The rain held off for a lovely morning paddle with some great company and a paddle enjoyed by all of us, away from the Docks.
