Tuesday Easy Evening paddle in the Thick and Creepy Fog
Tuesday 14th January by Colin Lowndes
Temperatures had risen from zero to 9 degrees, resulting in a heavy, very eerie fog. Visibility may have been 20 metres but it was difficult to tell! The Dragon Boats were heard before they were seen, and the rules of the sea (pass to Port/right) were observed, out of necessity/self-preservation. A compass would have been required if a crossing of one of the larger docks had been attempted.
We passed under the bridge into Albert Docks and initially thought that the pretty lights on the columns had been turned off. At the very last minute, they appeared out of the gloom. Just when you think you have witnessed every sort of weather, you get another different view and experience of the docks from the water!
