Anglesey 1 Trearddur Bay Sea trip. Saturday 16 May 2026.
2026 05 16 Anglesey 1 Trearddur Bay
A small group met at Trearddur Bay for a coastal sea kayaking trip in moderate conditions. Using our smaller sea boats, we launched from the bay and paddled out around the headland before making our way across towards Porth Dafarch.

Once clear of the shelter of the bay, the sea state became more noticeable, with the swell building steadily around the exposed sections of coastline. The conditions made for an enjoyable paddle and gave everyone a chance to work on boat control and timing in the moving water.
As we rounded the headland, the well-known “spooky house” perched high above the cliffs became a clear landmark on the route and added a bit of atmosphere to the trip. The combination of dark rocks, rolling swell and grey skies gave the coastline a dramatic feel.

After reaching the far side of the bay towards Porth Dafarch, we regrouped before turning back towards Trearddur Bay. With the swell now helping us along, the return journey was great fun, with some enjoyable following seas and the occasional surf as we headed back in.
A really enjoyable session on the water and a good introduction to paddling the Anglesey coastline in slightly livelier conditions.
