Anglesey Junior Weekend 12-14 June 2026

Anglesey Junior Weekend 12-14 June 2026

We all arrived on Friday evening at Tyn Rhos Campsite near Treaddur Bay and set up camp. It was good to catch up with everybody and just play games on the large field that we had to ourselves.

Saturday Morning – 4-Mile Bridge

I enjoyed the 4-mile bridge, especially going through the bridge and in both directions, which I’ve never done before. It was good to be able to paddle into the surf, too.

Paddling across the bay with legs in 2 boats was fun!

Saturday Afternoon- Treaddur Bay Surfing

We went surfing at Treaddur Bay.

My wetsuit was still cold from when we went kayaking a few hours before.

After that, we went on the waves. They were really big, since the wind was STRONG.

Then I needed the toilet again. When I came back from the toilet, my dad’s paddleboard had blown away halfway down the beach. It was really funny. We went back onto the sea and got a few more rides. Then I had a go on a sit-on top, but I found it really hard to control. The sea was full of jellyfish, but luckily, they did not sting.

It was quite windy, so there were some good-sized waves to play in, and we went in and out many, many times.

Saturday surfing:

On Saturday afternoon we went down to Trearddur Bay to do some surfing. Neither of us were very enthusiastic about putting our wet kit back on, but after some persuasion and ice cream bribery, we decided to give it a go. It was quite windy, so there were some good-sized waves to play in, and we went in and out many, many times. Occasionally, going back to the beach to empty the boats before heading back out.

Each time we paddled out, we got splashed in the face a lot, and we soon forgot about our cold, wet kit. We think it was the best part of the weekend and can’t wait to try it again.

*Saturday – Alternative to surfing*
Whilst some people went surfing, Dominic, Elodie, and I started building a sand castle. It had a tonne of moats and a wall that I made. Then, some other kids started to help, which was excellent because it made the castle humongous. We didn’t put turrets on, but we made it big, sturdy and strong.

Whilst we waited for the tide to come in, I built two sand chickens that I named Bob and Jeff. Jeff was short for Jeffery.

The tide slowly crept up on us, and then we climbed up onto the sand castle. The grown-ups took pictures of us on top. The tide slowly destroyed the castle. Then we went back to the campsite for a BBQ and also had a play with our friends. For pudding, we had smores!

Sunday Morning – Sea Paddle to Scooby Doo House

On Sunday, we went down to the sea at Treaddur Bay again.

There were about 18 of us, and we kayaked over to the Scooby-Doo house and went through a little arch. We had to go single file as it was a very tight squeeze.

On one rock hop, I got pushed into some rocks at the edge of the channel, but I managed to paddle out and surf a wave out of the channel.

After that, we did some rock hopping and went to a cave full of stones that had been smoothed by the sea. I put some stones in my boat because they looked very cool.

After that, we went coasteering.
