Four members of Liverpool Canoe Club were part of the Kayak Safety support for the Bolton Ironman 1-2nd July 2023.
Four members of Liverpool Canoe Club were be part of the 50 strong kayak water safety team for the Bolton Ironman this week-end. Conditions on the Saturday, for the practice were challenging with gusts over 25 miles per hour.
The weather moderated slightly by Sunday for the full Ironman and the water temperature was a balmy 24 Celsius.
More than 2,300 athletes from 51 countries took part in the Bolton Ironman. Thousands of supporters cheered along shores of the lake and along the gruelling course for the extreme triathlon. Competitors ranged from 18 to 74 years.
The Ironman is an extreme triathlon comprising of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and then a full 26.2 mile marathon all to be completed consecutively within 17 hours.
