Pembroke weekend – Mon 5th May – Dale towards St Ishmaels
Becka Lawson
A brisk wind was forecast again so around 16 of us headed to Dale for sheltered paddling. Even there it was so breezy that the windsurfers and wingfoilers were having fun.
Frankie and Eamon were nominated to lead the 2 groups. Initially, Keith, Ian, Nikki and Martin were all in Frankie’s group, but after some muttering, Keith was persuaded to hop over. After launching, we tried to separate the groups, but they kept catching up with each other until Keith rudely carved up Frankie’s group, forcing them to the back.
We crossed the bay, going NNE, against the wind, then we tucked in and dawdled E along the coast, rock hopping behind the other group.
After lunch on a beach, we headed back more directly and were soon warming up in the dining room of the pub in Dale, saying goodbye to the weekend warriors and making plans for the 2 bonus days for those of us staying on in Pembroke.
