The Great Orme – A summer solstice paddle

The Great Orme – A summer solstice paddle

The weather forecast was good, mainly westerly and F2 gusting 3. We met on the slip near the pier in Llandudno and managed to drop the boats off close to the water’s edge. When we got out of the shelter of the launch point, we noticed the local wind was not as forecast; it was more like F3 gusting 4 (there were a lot of gusts). With the addition of some side swell, this meant we had an enjoyable, if shorter, more energetic and more exciting paddle than we had planned.

The Waverly Paddle Steamer was operating from the end of Llandundo pier, and on our return gave us a paddle past.

The Waverly Paddle Steamer was operating from the end of Llandundo pier, and on our return gave us a paddle past. We had last encountered the vessel on the 2022 Round Arran Trip. An additional surprise was Keith giving Debbie and me a rose each towards the end of the paddle.
