🌊 A Hilbre Island Adventure πŸš£β€β™‚οΈ

West Kirby, Wirral – 12 April 2025

A perfect spring paddle unfolded this week as a group of local sea kayakers launched from the West Kirby Slipway for a scenic trip around Hilbre Island and back. Onboard were paddlers Ian, Adya, Ade, and Keith, who took full advantage of the sunny skies and calm conditions, with a gentle southeasterly breeze guiding their journey.

The route took the group along the picturesque Dee Estuary, circling the rugged charm of Hilbre Island – a known wildlife haven. The highlight? A friendly, welcoming committee of several curious seals, who popped up to inspect the colourful flotilla before lazily basking on the rocks nearby.

The trip was smooth and relaxed, with great visibility, easy landings, and cheerful camaraderie all round. β€œA cracking day to be out on the water,” said Ian. β€œSunshine, seals, and sound company – what more could you ask for?”
