Alps White Water Holiday – France 2026 – Monday Day 10 St Clement to Rabouix Wave

2026 08 10 St Clement to Rabouix Wave by Ella B

Today’s paddle called for a re-run of last week’s trip on the Durance, paddling from St Clement down to the Rabouix wave. With only 5 hardy paddlers left, the smaller group allowed for some more training and teaching. With Keith’s keen coaching, we spent time carving and surfing our way through the St Clement slalom course.

We had to try out the water slide from the cafe pool which was a lot of fun

After some successful playing (including trying out the slide into the canal), we set off downstream. Enjoying the thrill of the large wave trains and beautiful scenery.

As the Rab wave approached, some paddlers began quietly chanting ‘Mrs Rab, Mrs Rab, please let me through’ (apparently this is a LCC time-honoured tradition for good luck). Thankfully, Mrs Rab was kind today and all 4 paddlers passed through without issue; some even looked stylish as they went. I chose to watch from the bank. Will I be brave enough to paddle the Rab wave later this week? Only time will tell.
