Liverpool Open Water Swim on Boxing Day

The air temperature was merely 5 Celsius and the water temperature was only 4.2 Celsius but that didn’t deter Liverpool Open Water Swimming Club taking part in their annual Boxing Day ‘dip’ in the Salthouse Dock. Just over 70 swimmers took part in front of several hundred spectators and supporters including several photographers including the Liverpool Echo.

Some 50 swimmers completed the 400 yards from one end of the iconic Salthouse Dock to the other. A further 20 swimmers swam the 50 yards from the floating pontoon to the slipway.

Thanks to the following members of Liverpool Canoe Club who provided kayak safety cover for the event:
Ian Colwyn, Paul Goetzee, Vic Leather, Alex Peacock, Andrew Wycherley, Ben Bowman, Jim Duffy

The swimmers and kayakers finished off the event with mince pies and a refreshing hot drink!
Congratulations to all the swimmers and organisers on a very successful event.

Best wishes for the New Year,

Jim
