Storm Eowyn had just blown through, and Storm Herminia was on its way, so the decision was taken to switch this month’s club open trip from the exposed Ribble to the amazing Dee. The key to this move was also that the water would be up and the wind at our backs.
An efficient shuttle done, we launched onto a decent level Dee at Llangollen to begin our zoom down to Erbistock.
The river was willing, but the wind decided it wanted to blow strongly in our faces for most of the trip. Never mind – I need to get fit for the trip to France in May.
The water was great, zoomy fun and some big wave trains for opens. The company was even better. Many laughs were had as we flew over Trevor Rocks; under the Pontcysllte Aqueduct, Cefyn Viaduct and Dee Viaduct; and shot past many huge trees brought down in the storms.
