Under 16 Canoe Polo Tournament at Speke Pool 2nd February 2019

Under 16 Canoe Polo Tournament at Speke Pool 2nd February 2019 We had two teams enter the NW U16 league on Saturday. Our paddlers looked great in club Buoyancy Aids, helmets and face masks and polo boats. For many it was their first go at canoe polo but all did fantastically well. The novice team ended up playing so well together that they can came out on top in first place in the novice league. Playing with an extra small size 3 ball enabled our team to pass the ball accurately and move around the pitch. Ellie was our ace scorer and Adrian turned out to be a daemon keeper. Poppy volunteered to play for the scratch FOA C team and played extremely well. In the more experienced “Development league” we have the makings of a great young side. The team passed well and created many opportunities to score. Dean played very well in goal and if we are able to shore up our defence a little in the zone the opposition would not get near the net. The team is equal first on points having won 3 of the 4 games but have a slightly worse goal difference. We all look forward to the next tournament on 2nd March again at Speke Pool. If anyone is interested in joining in with the U16 we still have places. You should be confident in a small kayak with a spray deck and have experience of paddling at the docks. Our team is aged 10 -16 years of age. Click for more information…. More Photos……

Hi All, We are looking to run several of the new British Canoeing Awards at the club over the next few months for our volunteers and helpers. These courses will be run by Nick and Matt from Sea Kayak Essentials and will be run from our compound at the docks. I know many of you already run / coordinate trips and sessions for the club. However, if you are intersted in developing your skills and picking up a qualification in the process please put your name forward. The club will cover the full cost of any course fee(s) (Typically £160 per person) knowing that you will use the experience to volunteer to run sessions / courses and trips for the club. It is only fair the club gives a little something back to its vounteers. You will have to be a member of the British Canoeing to hold the award(s) and pay British Canoeing a Course Registration fee but the club will run first aid and FSRT courses to ensure you have all the prerequisite. Expressions of intrest are requested from anyone interested in: Paddlesport Leader Award – Sheltered water trips eg docks / River Dee at Chester Paddlesort Instructor Award – Introductory courses / Starter sessions and basic coaching including our pool sessions Please reply to mailto:website@iverpoolcanoeclub.co.uk with your name, which course(s) you are intersted in and a brief word about your experience / any awards you may already hold.
